ABOUT US

Cellabs is a Sydney based "boutique" diagnostics company, which specialises in the design, development, and manufacture of immunodiagnostic kits for tropical and infectious diseases. The company was established in 1985 by immunologist Dr A. M. Smithyman and is an original member of the Australian Biotechnology Association.

By 1990, Cellabs had released its first range of commercial diagnostic tests for Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and Chlamydia; all of which found ready markets both locally and internationally. The company has steadily expanded its range of products and now markets over 20 diagnostic kits worldwide. Over 90% of the company's products are exported to over 40 countries around the world via a network of international distributors.

In 1998, Cellabs formed a strong relationship with its sister company, TropBio Pty Ltd. Based in Townsville, TropBio produces a complementary range of human and veterinary diagnostics complementary to the Cellabs range, including the WHO recommended Filariasis Ag ELISA.
